Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of RecapYT, a YouTube summary Chrome extension and the related website at recapyt.in (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Ankit Jaiswal, a sole proprietor based in India. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

RecapYT is a paid Chrome extension that generates summaries of YouTube videos in Hindi, Hinglish, and other languages, using third-party AI providers. We do not own YouTube, are not affiliated with YouTube or Google, and do not republish YouTube content.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 to enter into a paid subscription.

3. Account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity on your account. Notify us at hi@recapyt.in immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Subscription & billing

• Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance, via our payment processor Dodo Payments, who acts as the merchant of record.
• Indian residents are billed in INR, inclusive of 18% GST. A tax invoice is issued for each payment.
• Other residents are billed in USD.
• Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period.
• Prices may change with 30 days’ advance notice, but the change will not affect your current billing cycle.

5. Refunds

See our Refund Policy. RecapYT is a digital SaaS product with a fully functional free tier available for testing before purchase. All paid subscriptions are non-refundable once initiated.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

• Use the Service to scrape, mass-download, or build derivative datasets from YouTube.
• Use the Service to violate YouTube’s Terms of Service or any applicable law.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our prompts, models, or proprietary logic.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without our written permission.
• Share your account credentials. One paid account = one user.
• Abuse the Service through automation, excessive volume, or behaviour that materially degrades performance for other users.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. If we terminate an account that has not abused the Service in bad faith, we will refund any unused portion of the current paid period at our discretion (see the Refund Policy for user-initiated refunds and cancellations).

7. Intellectual property

The RecapYT name, logo, design, code, and all proprietary content are owned by us. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service while your subscription is active. The summaries generated for you are yours to use freely, with the caveat that the underlying video remains owned by its YouTube creator.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (YouTube, AI providers, payment processors). We are not responsible for outages, changes, or content from these third parties. If a third-party AI provider materially changes its terms in a way that affects the Service, we will adapt or notify you.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as-is” and “as-available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. AI-generated summaries may be inaccurate, incomplete, or contain errors. Do not rely on summaries for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. Always verify important information against the original video.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Termination

You may cancel and delete your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with reasonable notice where possible. On termination, your access ends and we delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of India.
