I've spent years building things people actually find — 200M+ organic impressions across my products. But for all that time online, I kept running into the same frustration: a 20-minute YouTube video that had exactly 2 minutes of information I needed.

I built RecapYT for myself first. When I shared it with a few colleagues, they refused to give it back.

The problem
Most YouTube videos are 20 minutes.
The insight is 2.

YouTube is the world's greatest classroom. Experts, researchers, founders — they're all teaching on there for free. The problem is not the knowledge. The problem is that a 22-minute video often contains exactly one idea you needed, buried somewhere around the 14-minute mark.

I started skipping through videos to find the part I actually needed. Then I started reading transcripts. Then I thought — why isn't this just solved?

So I solved it.

"I didn't want to build another tool that pulls you away from what you're watching. I wanted to build something that makes you smarter without breaking your flow."

How it became a product
I sent it to three colleagues.
They sent it to ten more.

The first version of RecapYT was a personal tool. No onboarding, no landing page, no pricing — just something that worked when I pasted in a YouTube link.

When I shared it internally, the reaction was immediate. People started forwarding it. Someone called it "the extension I didn't know I needed." That was enough.

I spent the next few weeks turning it into something anyone could use — not just people who knew me.

How it's built
Invisible until you need it.
Gone when you don't.

RecapYT doesn't track your watch history. It doesn't store your video data. It doesn't ask you to bring your own API keys or create a separate account for every device.

You open a YouTube video. You click the extension. You get the summary. That's the whole experience.

It works in English, Hindi, and Hinglish — because not everyone thinks in the same language they search in.

Stop watching.
Start knowing.

Just install the extension and you're done  ·  No login required
